- Here is some of my old school work:
- Interesting Acedemic Programming
- Papers and Informal Writings
- Photographs
- Frictionless Brains Reproduction - a simple agent-based model evolving an object-interception task, directed by a continuous-time recurrent neural network (CTRNN). In the experiment outlined, the agent displays Braitenberg-like behavior, but more interesting behaviors have been evolved with similar systems by others. Contains code and a short paper. Spring'07.
- Foreign Word Classification: A Statistical Model - A naive Bayesian classifier used to identify the language to which a sample belongs, and its theoretical motivation. With the Python code used in the experiment, an OpenOffice slide show about the work, and the final paper for the class. Fall '06.
Interesting Academic Programming:
- Luis Rocha's Agent-Based Model of Genotype Editing - The final paper for my honors senior seminar. It's a general report on a new class of genetic algorithms and their relationship to algorithmics and to computational biological research. Fall '07.
- On connectionism and dynamical systems theory : different doesn't have to mean separate - The final paper for a philosophy of Cognitive Science class. Discusses the relationship between connectionist and dynamical systems models of cognition, and suggests a framework in which each is valued. Assumes a lot of background. Fall '07.
- Notes on running a MacOS X Cluster - tied to the Cluster Challenge, Nov '07.
- Riffing on Simulation in Biomorphic Computation - given this prompt, I set about some very informal exploration of my idea landscape. Directly tied to the paper above. Spring '07.
- Foreign Word Classification: A Statistical Model - A naive Bayesian classifier used to identify the language to which a sample belongs, and its theoretical motivation. With the Python code used in the experiment, an OpenOffice slide show about the work, and the final paper for the class. Fall '06.
- A Quick Note About bc - written for the benefit of my classmates in a systems programming course I took in the Spring of '05.
Papers and Informal Writings:
- 2007 HPC Undergraduate Cluster Challenge Photos - In the Fall of '07, I took part in the High Performance Computing Undergraduate Cluster Challenge, a contest pitting different teams of students against one another to build and manage a Beowulf-style cluster system. Here are some of my pictures from SC07.
- Embodied Cognition Competition Photos - we formed teams of six and built machines to play an aggressive egg-hunt game. These are the pictures of the fun. Spring '07.
